The Wisconsin Association of Energy Engineers (WAEE) invites you to join us at the Milwaukee Public Library's Martin Luther King Branch.

July 22, 2026

Meeting host:

Milwaukee Public Library

Darcy Solutions and The Glacier Group

The new 17,400-square-foot Martin Luther King Branch is an $11 million investment supported by $6 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, the city’s ARPA-backed Housing Trust Fund, Tax Incremental Funding (TIF) support, private grants, and other grants and loans. This branch is part of a mixed-use development that includes a 42-unit apartment complex—strengthening the King Drive corridor and anchoring neighborhood revitalization.

Attendees will learn about the geothermal heating and cooling, rooftop solar panels, green roof, and infrastructure for EV charging stations, making this the greenest library in Southeast Wisconsin. The geothermal well was built in the parking areas at the back of the parcel and only took the space equivalent of a half a parking spot. The project demonstrates how compact aquifer technology can be integrated into urban public infrastructure.
