Scholarships - 2020

The Wisconsin Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers (WAEE) was formed in 2007 and has rapidly progressed to be a leading chapter in the state and the nation.  General information about the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) can be found at http://www.aeecenter.org, and the Wisconsin Chapter at https://thewaee.org

WAEE has established a scholarship program to help support and sustain the young Wisconsin talent needed to develop an energy efficient state and society.  Since 2010, WAEE has awarded a total of 71 scholarships totaling $73,300.  You may be the next recipient!  In 2020, individual awards will range from $750 to $2,000 with a total of $12,500 budgeted for awards.

The primary goal of the scholarship is to financially support students pursuing engineering, business and technical careers with emphasis on energy efficiency, energy management, energy conservation, renewable energy, energy generation, applied equipment design, energy system operation or other energy related field.

Other goals include,

-        Providing students opportunities to meet other professionals working in energy careers and to see the wide variety of careers available to them

-        Providing WAEE members opportunities to meet students who may be seeking internship or employment in the future

Selection criteria include interest in energy careers, participation and leadership in AEE student chapter, academic performance, service organization involvement, leadership and outside interests.  Applicants may be enrolled in programs with emphasis on energy efficiency, energy management, energy conservation, renewable energy or other energy related field.

·        Student chapter members of WAEE or AEE are encouraged to apply, as participation and leadership in student chapters is strongly considered among the selection criteria.

·        Applicants must be attending undergraduate or technical school programs and must have a minimum of 1 year of study remaining.  Candidates should be attending Wisconsin programs or be a Wisconsin resident.

·        Due date for all applications is January 26, 2020, at 10 pm CST.  Applications received by December 29, 2019 will receive preferred status during review.

·        Awards presentation is tentatively planned for the March 25, 2020 monthly meeting.  All recipients are strongly encouraged to attend to network with professionals in the energy field.
