Trane’s Erickson Building in La Crosse, WI has become the La Crosse campus training facility. Its function is to train new sales professionals through participation in our Graduate Training Program (GTP) and key production skills for our workforce, specifically welding and brazing. Given its employee training function, the central plant in this building is a learning laboratory for our HVAC systems development work and contains our newest and most innovative electrified heating system, the storage source heat pump system.

The Thermal Battery Storage-Source Heat Pump System is an innovative way to make all-electric heat pump heating possible even in cold climates and dense urban environment where roof space is limited. The legacy of thermal storage systems is as a cooling technology which enabled making ice at night when energy is inexpensive and melting ice during the day when energy is expensive. The storage source heat pump system enhances the value of thermal storage systems by using it for heating and heat recovery as well. And similar to ground source the system also qualifies for substantial tax credits making it one of the most cost effective electrified heating and cooling solutions available today.

The WAEE board will meet at 10:30. Anyone interested in learning more about our chapter or getting more involved is welcome to attend.  The board is comprised of energy industry professionals who volunteer their time to promote education and awareness in the energy industry.
