The Wisconsin Association of Energy Engineers (WAEE) invites you to join us at the Appleton Wastewater Treatment Facility.
April 22, 2026
Appleton Wastewater Treatment Facility
The Appleton Wastewater Treatment Plant (AWWTP) is an advanced, secondary, biological activated sludge wastewater treatment facility that serves homes, factories, mills, and plants in the City of Appleton. The facility treatment processes consist of fine screening, grit removal, primary clarification, activated sludge-contact stabilization, and final clarification.
Attendees will learn about how AWWTP is contributing to the City of Appleton's goal of achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. AWWTP has three biogas boilers being used to heat the entire complex. Recently, they completed a project to use excess biogas that would otherwise be flared to convert waste heat generated from the boilers to electricity.
The WAEE board will meet at 10:30 at AWWTP. Anyone interested in learning more about our chapter or getting more involved is welcome to attend. The board is comprised of energy industry professionals who volunteer their time to promote education and awareness in the energy industry.
