PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAm

The WAEE is excited to announce this new scholarship opportunity!

The WAEE established a professional development scholarship program to support our members and further continuous education. This Professional Development Scholarship will be offered for the first time in 2026!

Who is eligible:

  • Applicants must be a member of WAEE.
  • Participation as WAEE Board of Director (BOD), Committee member, monthly meeting and/or expo volunteer is highly encouraged. 
  • Applicants must use funds for training programs offered by AEE. Please see AEE’s online training catalog. Courses that are “On-Demand, Virtual, or In-Person” are all eligible.
  • Scholarship funds cannot be used to pay for exam or certification fees.
  • Applicants can receive one (1) Professional Development Scholarship per calendar year, as funds allow.


How to apply:

  1. Identify a training course and apply for the scholarship.

  2. Submit applications any time during the 2026 calendar year. Scholarship Committee will consider applications throughout the year

  3. Once scholarship is awarded, complete the training class.

  4. Email verification of completion to waeePDscholarship@gmail.com and scholarship funds will be disbursed. 



What trainings are eligible:

AEE Training Programs: There are many training programs available through AEE. Some are not Certification programs, but instead are courses on energy topics offering CEU’s/PDH’s. Others are Certification programs with the exam (and subsequent certification) as part of the training course. A full list of courses can be found on AEE’s online training catalog.

AEE Certifications: Obtaining Certification is encouraged but not required. Scholarship funds cannot be used to pay for exam or certification fees. A full list of AEE Certifications is below. More information can be found on AEE’s Certification webpage.

Awards for 2026:

  • $5,000 total budgeted. Professional Development Scholarship requests will be awarded on a first-come first-serve AND merit-basis until budgeted funds are depleted.

  • Up to 50% of AEE training program cost, capped at $1,000, will be re-imbursed upon the successful completion of the applicants training program. Remaining cost of training and travel (if applicable) is to be covered by individuals or employers.

  • All Scholarships are at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee and WAEE Board of Directors.

DEADLINE: There is no firm deadline as applications are reviewed ad hoc throughout the year.
